A Sand Mountain city with an outlet story
Boaz spreads across Marshall and Etowah counties on Sand Mountain, at 1,073 feet, and counted 10,107 residents in 2020. Founded on November 11, 1878 by the Sparks family of Georgia, it was incorporated in 1897.[1]
In the 1980s a VF Corporation outlet store helped turn Boaz into an outlet destination, with 130 stores and about five million visitors a year at the peak. Snead State Community College is also located here.[1]
