Langston sits on the eastern shore of the Tennessee River at river mile 377, within Guntersville Lake, and had 265 residents in 2020. Sand Mountain rises immediately to its east.[1]
Of its 8.24 square miles, 4.93 are land and 3.32 are water. Scottsboro is across the river to the north.[1]
How Langston came to be a lake town

After the Tennessee Valley Authority built Guntersville Dam in the late 1930s, a large part of the area was flooded and the population fell.[1]
