A river valley town on U.S. 72
Paint Rock lies along the Paint Rock River in a valley between Keel Mountain and the Cumberland Plateau, in Jackson County. First settled in the 1820s as Camden, it took its present name in 1876 and incorporated in 1894.[1]
With 182 residents in 2020 it is the smallest of Jackson County's 13 incorporated communities, though it once peaked at 534 people in 1910.[1]
