Named for a highway

Rainbow City, with 10,191 residents in 2020, is in southern Etowah County at about 518 feet.  It was incorporated in 1950 and named for U.S. Highway 411, called Rainbow Drive.[1]

State Route 77 (Grand Avenue) intersects US 411, which leads 6 miles to Gadsden and 15 miles to Ashville.[1]
