Along the Locust Fork in Blount County
Snead is a Blount County town of 1,032 people (2020 census) at the junction of U.S. Route 278 and Alabama State Route 75. Its northeast edge is bordered by the Locust Fork of the Black Warrior River.[1]
White settlers came in 1839, and the area grew in the 1850s after a local businessman built a gristmill. The town takes its name from John Snead, the first postmaster in 1882, and incorporated in 1966.[1]
