Sawmills, cotton and a name chosen in 1910

West Point is in the northwestern part of Cullman County and recorded 584 residents in the 2020 census.  Settlers arrived in the late 1870s, and around 1910 the community chose the name West Point.[1]

Early industry included a sawmill, a grist mill and a cotton gin.  The town incorporated on October 15, 1977.[1]
